Back to school support application forms will be available from today till next Friday – Prof Prasad

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad says the Back to School support is for Early Childhood Education students, Primary and Secondary students up to Year 13 for the 2023 school year.

Professor Prasad adds to access this support, parents are required to simply fill a manual application form that will be available at their respective schools from today until next Friday.

He says a separate application form must be filled for each student.

For example, a family with 3 students will have to fill 3 application forms.

The Minister say the forms are to be submitted to schools for verification and update on FEMIS.

He has stated that families that earn annually below $50,000 and whose children do not receive Transportation Assistance will have to apply by filling out the full Back to School support form with a statutory declaration form for income verification purposes that has been signed by the schools.

The Minister says for families with children that currently receive subsidised transportation assistance, they do not have to complete the full form with the income verification form as they are already verified to be earning less than $50,000.

Professor Prasad says the funds will be disbursed through Vodafone’s MPAISA and Digicel’s My Cash platforms.

He adds for students in maritime islands with no mobile coverage, families will have to provide the address of their nearest post office or agency to receive the support through TMO.

The disbursement of funds will begin from the 25th of this month.
